Teaching Philosophy and Practice
As a socially engaged visual artist and educator, I bring a deep passion for art, learning, and connection to every aspect of my teaching. Qualified with an MA in Illustration and a BA (Hons) in Surface Pattern Design, along with extensive training in mindfulness, and creative education, I bring both professional expertise and a compassionate approach to my teaching. I am also DBS checked and have in-depth safeguarding training, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all learners. With a background in textiles and illustration, I design and deliver accessible, step-by-step classes that focus on skill development through drawing, mixed-media, and textile-based processes.
Since 2013, I’ve worked as an art educator and workshop facilitator, offering holistic classes and perinatal workshops for parents and children from as young as six months. I’ve seen firsthand how early exposure to creative processes supports children’s development—nurturing imagination, fine motor skills, and confidence in self-expression.
Alongside my work with children and families, I regularly lead adult workshops in both formal and informal settings. These often explore themes such as memory, inner-child healing, and overcoming creative blocks—areas that support well-being and personal growth.
My teaching blends technical guidance with a supportive, nurturing environment where students of all ages and abilities can build confidence, develop their creativity, and experience the therapeutic benefits of making art.
Community & Group Workshops
I specialise in designing and delivering creative workshops for a wide range of group settings. From mass-participatory events to curriculum-linked sessions, I work with people of all ages and abilities to build confidence, connection, and creativity through art.
I regularly lead sessions in:
Primary and secondary schools (curriculum-based and extracurricular)
Hospitals and healthcare settings
Day centres and memory cafés for people living with dementia
Community centres and festivals
Museums and Art galleries
SEN groups and inclusive education environments
Corporate and workplace wellbeing events
Whether working with children, young people, adults or older adults, my workshops are designed to be inclusive, engaging, and tailored to the needs of each group. Please get in touch to discuss your organisation’s goals or ideas.

In 2021 I was awarded an Arts Council England grant, enabling me to create a body of work to explore and raise awareness of Narcissistic abuse.
The grant gave me funding to deliver a series of workshops across the London boroughs of Newham and Greenwich to abuse sufferers, young people who are at high risk of being abused and to adults who are in recovery/shelters.
During workshops participants were asked to illustrate metaphors for how they felt whilst in a toxic relationship, how they envisage the future looking and illustrations to appease their ‘inner-child’.
The adorned patches have been made into weighted blankets, acting as a metaphor for the depth of internal conflict for those experiencing psychological abuse - the restrictive nature of a narcissistic relationship but also the warmth and comfort that remaining within a the confines of the relationship can bring. The rocking chair is representative of the home (the place where victims are often most unsafe…behind closed doors).
Further information on the project can be found here.
I recently completed a series of sensory textile workshops at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, commissioned to engage ex-veterans and local residents with early-onset dementia. Each week, participants explored a new textile skill, using it to spark conversation and reminiscence around cherished memories, such as past jobs, family, and significant occasions.
The resulting collaborative patchwork quilt will be permanently displayed within the hospital grounds.
Six week applied-art and mixed-media course for ESOL learners at Grand Junction, W2.
Veronica joined the Grand Junction team to plan and deliver our Summer Art Class in 2023, a course that was targeted at people in the community who experience isolation. She quickly built a rapport with all learners, and skilfully engaged the full class in creative activities and discussions. She developed a curriculum rooted in applicable art practices, that was accessible for learners with little experience, allowing them to express themselves and their stories through the arts. She also arranged and lead a study visit to the National Portrait Gallery. Many of the learners reported on increased confidence and wellbeing at the end of the course and confirmed that they had developed new skills and developed social connections. Most of the learners continued on creative courses with Grand Junction, inspired by the Summer Art Class. Throughout the project, Veronica was a joy to work with, and an inspiring source of positive energy. I would highly recommend Veronica as a tutor for creative courses and can confirm that her warm and caring personality along with her community experience makes her highly competent for working with groups of vulnerable learners. - Ana Tuhus, Heritage Coordinator 'Grand Junction'

Holistic art workshops for adults with caring responsibilities at Holborn Community Association.
Veronica has a wonderful, mindful approach to leading workshops, her work with our carer’s art group created such a safe and welcoming space for adults with caring responsibilities to come together and create art mindfully. The group really appreciated her careful, thoughtful approach. Veronica also worked closely with older adults in our day centre, again providing mindful, fun and engaging workshops which were really valued by everyone who attended. - Hazel East, former education Co-ordinator, Holborn Community Association).

Holistic and educational classes for young people and family events.
Veronica ran Arts Award Discover at a local school as an after- school club and also during school time. The work that the students produced with her was innovative, imaginative and well researched and developed. It was also new to all the pupils she worked with. Veronica went beyond my expectations and worked really hard on this project which helped twenty-two young people to gain an Arts Award qualification. We also ran a very popular stall at Bermondsey Carnival together with her hand drawn wallpaper and Veronica ran very popular school holiday workshops over the summer months in our community garden based on her beautiful drawings. – Bridget Virden, former education manger, CGP Gallery.

I was commissioned to create a series of art workshops for children with special educational needs (SEN) and disabilities, as well as their families, as part of the 'Mighty Mega' project at 'The Discover Story Centre' in East London. The project involved devising and delivering ten sensory, visual art, and craft workshops inspired by stories.
Additionally, I created two videos to accompany these workshops, enhancing the overall experience for participants.
The Mighty Mega project aimed to provide an inclusive and engaging environment for children with SEN and disabilities, promoting creativity and self-expression through art.
By combining art, storytelling, and sensory experiences, the workshops provided a unique and enjoyable experience for participants. The use of visual arts and crafts in therapy has been recognised as a valuable tool for promoting cognitive development and emotional well-being in children with SEN and disabilities

Mother and baby art workshops and messy play through ANKH Place (funded by Newham Council). These workshops offer a nurturing space for mothers and their babies to explore creativity together. The sessions are carefully designed to foster strong bonds between mother and child, providing opportunities for shared experiences and joyful interaction. A key element of the workshops is the use of fabrics and other tactile materials.
These sensory elements are incorporated to stimulate the babies' developing senses and create a rich environment for exploration and discovery. The collaborative nature of the workshops results in life-long tactile objects and artworks crafted in partnership between mother and baby. These creations serve as tangible reminders of the special bond and shared experiences, often incorporating themes of transitional objects and nostalgia, reflecting my own personal practice.
Thematic workshops for the Museum of London family festivals.
In 2022 I received a grant which enabled me to work with students and carer’s at an East London based primary school to create a 2x3 metre ‘intergenerational’ quilt inspired from cherished memories and transitional objects.
