Textiles & Surface Pattern Design

This body of work reflects Veronica’s early practice in textiles and surface pattern design, forming a foundation for her ongoing interest in material, pattern, and sensory experience.

Developed during her studies and early career, these works explore repeat pattern, composition, and decorative surface, drawing on historical references and traditional craft processes. Influences include the legacy of textile design and pattern-making, alongside an interest in how visual rhythm and repetition can create immersive and engaging surfaces.

This work includes a collaborative piece shortlisted for the Hand & Lock Prize for Embroidery, as well as printed textile designs and silk scarves inspired by the history of craft and pattern.

This early exploration of textiles continues to inform Veronica’s current practice, particularly in her use of fabric, embellishment, and tactile materials. Elements of repetition, layering, and surface decoration can be seen across her work, from participatory textile projects to large-scale installations and visual environments.
